Welcome to Rootschat. Good to know that we were on the right track.

If you post on here a couple more times - just say hallo or similar, then Nessie can private message you as it looks as if you could be related.

OK will do. If we are related then I have a fair amount of Jersey-related material that I can share.

This is a possible. I think that Alfred John Alley's father was Alfred Alley born 1873. There is no death of an Alfred Alley but there is this death:

ALFRED ANSELL
Birth year   1873
Age   67
Death year   1940 4th quarter
WORTHING
Volume   2B
Page   940

So perhaps the whole Alley family changed their name to Ansell?

If AJV Allez and J Ansell are one and the same then the parents would be Albert Frederick Allez (1871-1941) and Lilian Mary Allez (nee MacDonald) (1875-1973) from St Helier

Hi there.

My name is Jonathan-Paul Finch. I have been looking for William Percy Finch and typed in the name on Google, as I am looking into my family history using ancestry and Google,  and your conversation came up. Doris Finch was my dad's mother (my nan). William was my dad's dad (my grandfather). If there is anyway you can help me with information, please let me know.

Jonny

Hello Jonny

I understand Doris was my grandad's sister, she was born Doris Kathleen Owen in Eastbourne, I'm sorry I don't know much, if anything about her, but she did have three brothers. Any information you have would be greatly appreciated. I know they lived in Brighton and that all the info I do have came mainly from this post and the helpful people on here

Martyn, hi.

I have been in touch with my aunt's and no one knows anything about John Ansell. All we know is he was a retired railway inspector and he came from Jersey.

There is nothing else that can be told, as he didn't want any thing to do with his "step children", my aunt's and my dad.

Sorry I can't help anymore than this

Aha, that’s sounds like John Ansell and John Allez could be the same person. Maybe worth looking at the railway records perhaps.

Did your aunts know anymore about Doris?
