st margrets nursing home hackney south
« on: Friday 29 July 16 00:41 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find anything about my half sister Removed born in St Margaret's nursing home Hackney South on the 29th March 1949 to my mum Removed Henley. I know she was adopted but do not know when. My mum did not want to give her up but her parents Reginald and Florence Henley made her. I have been searching for quite a while now for my mum. Would love Christine? if she still has the same name to know her birth mother loved her and never forgot her. She has a large extended family with 8 half brothers and sisters. I have found out that the nursing home was for the elderly and mothers and babies. We are unsure if Christine was adopted legally or not or if a family member adopted her but we don't believe that the case as mum would have known. We would love to know if Christine had a good home, if she married had children, grandchildren etc. and if she would love to be in contact. Any information would be very greatly appreciated.

Hi Trisha,

This site doesn't allow the names of living or possible living people & a Moderator will remove all info. on such.

Not sure if you use Facebook but there's a site...

https://www.facebook.com/missingpeople.uk/?fref=ts

This may possibly be your best route but I'm sure others will be able to redirect you further.

Legal, formal, adoptions commenced in 1927 - informal adoptions were not allowed after that date.

Your best bet is to place your details on the Adoptions Contact Register - as details of adoptions are not available to members of the public.
https://www.gov.uk/adoption-records/the-adoption-contact-register

Or try the Adoption Search Reunion website:

Hi Trisha

Has someone else in your family posted the same request?

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=748434.0

I've removed certain details in accordance with our 'no living people' policy. Please see our guidelines for posting

http://www.rootschat.com/help/posting_guide.php

As mentioned in the linked topic and elsewhere on Rootschat, if you do not know her name after adoption then there is little chance of finding her through the normal channels.
