B.Fullalove, E.Edwards, E.Abel
« on: Saturday 30 July 16 16:49 BST (UK) »
I'm posting this with faint hope.

In 1900 my grandmother was hired as a ladies maid/interpreter to a lady making a 'Grand Tour', the only record we have of the tour is one photograph from Egypt dated 8th March 1900. It includes my grandmother and three other Europeans with the names Robbie E. Edwards, B.Fullalove, and the third is more difficult to read, possibly E. Able.
I asked for help with this name, see here http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=672943.msg5180188#msg5180188

I'd love to discover who my grandmother's employer was and where else they visited.

Possible clues from family, which may be incorrect are-
B.Fullalove was traveling with her brother.
One of the men was not part of their party but someone they met on route.
The man they met or the two siblings were Welsh.

I'll attach close ups of the three people in the next post.

Perhaps one of these faces is someone you have been searching for in the 1901 Census but couldn't find.
Perhaps there are other photographs of them visiting landmarks.

You probably know that the photo is taken alongside the Sphinx and the great Pyramids at Giza, near Cairo.
Tourists and visitors could pay to have their photo taken riding on a Camel.

I have similar photos of my dad taken in 1943

There was a substantial presence of UK expats living in Egypt between  1900 and 1945.
Try a search of English  language news papers published in Alex or Cairo circa 1900

PS  have a look for classified adverts in "the Lady"  and the Times  for adverts for the post of Companion on a Grand Tour

Good suggestions ScouseBoy thank you.

I should add, my grandmother was working in Paris just before this, I have three photographs taken in Paris of her and two friends, one is dated 1900.
This is part of the problem I don't know if she left from Paris, or had returned home to Ireland and met up again with her friends while passing through Paris.
I know she was back in France by 1903.

If sami is correct that E Able is most likely the man they met up with.
Could it be:  E Abel in Corfe caravan

Update on this photo
The four Europeans are all servants and each got a copy of this photo which was taken on a day off, so there was/is three more out there somewhere.

It's possible the man on the far left didn't work for the same people as the other three.
