On the 1901 census there are those in Shrewsbury as PERKS
Elizabeth Perks Head 45 Plowden, Shropshire
Frederick Perks Son 24 Shrewsbury, Salop
Annie Perks Daughter 18 Shrewsbury, Salop

Residence Belle Vue Road and Annie is a dressmaker

Jamjar

I've found this family in 1891, still Perks with father Thomas, so not the right Annie, but thanks for trying

I can only see one suitable Leonard Brown death:

September 1910 Brown Leonard 21 Chesterfield 7b 345

Unless she had married someone much older than herself?

Did she have children to her first marriage?

Is there an occupation for her on the certificate you have?

Jamjar

No occupation is listed for her when she married George Eltham. I haven't found any children from her first marriage.

One of the addresses on the passenger lists for Annie was 12 Laurel Cottage, Pontesbury.  There is a probate for a John Bishop who died 5th October, 1937 at this address. with admin/will to an Arthur Bishop.

This reminds me,  there was a John and Eliza Bishop living in Bootle in the last census.  Eliza was born Pontesbury c.1854, but I haven`t found the connection as yet, so it may be just a coincidence.

I forgot to mention that Annie appears to be travelling with an Edith A Eltham in 1914 aged 9 and  she was listed as Annie Edith Eltham aged 17 leaving England in 1922 giving 12 Laurel Cottage as her last address.   Her birthplace was listed as Shrewsbury on the Canada, Ocean Arrivals (Form 30A).  So who was the father?

I just can`t find a birth for her.

I have been following this and searching - hard work. Good finds Mo  :)

Radcliff,

There are several marriages for people called Richard Davies around 1880 in Atcham but this one may be significant:

September1879 Atcham vol 6a pg 1120
Richard Davies and Elizabeth Perkins are on the same page.

Still no closer though!

Ignore above

Found the one I have been looking at and Elizabeth's name is France - oh heck!
