Stephen Carr missing in 1851
« on: Monday 01 August 16 17:53 BST (UK) »
I have a Stephen Carr born in 1787 at Heversham to William and Agnes. In 1841 he is in Milnthorpe working as a carrier (unmarried) I also have a likely burial in 1858 at Heversham and a couple of newspaper articles from the late 1840s describing him as a carrier from Milnthorpe. I haven't been able to find him on the 1851 census and would like to track him down! He is the brother of a direct ancestor but the carrier business run by the family for several generations probably arose from him, hence my interest.
If any kind soul out there could track him down in 1851 I would be eternally grateful. I have tried various websites (Ancestry, FindMyPast, family Search etc) and variations in spelling until I am dizzy :)

He's not the one on 1851 A*try who's a visitor in Preston Lancs. born 1808 is he?

Only reason for asking is that he's a carrier born Milnthorpe. Just seems a bit close.

Hi Maureen, Thanks for that, other than being ten years younger than he should be that's a possibility!
