I have been researching the Gundy family from Whichurch for many years.Walter Gundy and Betty Davis married 6/oct/1788 in Whitchurch.They had 8 children:John b.1788(my ggggrandfather),Walter b.1791(married Sarah Clayton 18/feb/1823 in Whitchurch),Thomas b.1793 married Mary Lewis on 2/mar/1819 in Tretire,Sarah b.1797Tretire married Benjamin Hunt in 1827 Whitchurch,Joseph b.1801,Henry b.1805 married Jane Williams,Elizabeth b.1807 in Whitchurch/Tretire,and Esther who married Thomas Galder on 9/june/1835 in Whitchurch.
Walter b.~1791 and Sarah Clayton had 5 children:Caroline b.1825,Walter b.~1827,Esther b.1830,Mary b.1831, and James b.1834.
I believe that Walter b.~1827 married  Ellen Eyre(born Gloucestershire and on the 1841Census living in Clifton) in Crickhowell in 1854.They had 5 children:Mary Ann Gundy b.Crickhowell(Llangenny(i)1856,Charlotte Ann b.1864 Crickhowell,Walter Thomas b.1866 Crickhowell,Lucy Esther(Hester) b.1868 b.Crickhowell and married in 1892 in Monmouth reg. to either John Llewellyn or Charles Miles Morgan,and Elizabeth Clara Gundy born 1870 in Monmouth reg.
I am trying to find out what happened to all of the children of Walter and Ellen.I found a death record for a Walter Thomas Gundy for 8/nov/1916 in Putney Vale cemetry in Wandsworth Surrey but there is no age given.I also found an 1881E census record for a Walter Gundy b.1867 in Dartford,Kent staying at "Little boys home",South Darenth,Horton-Kirby.I would be grateful if anyone has any information for the children of Walter Gundy and Ellen Eyre.The family moved back to Whitchurch and are on the 1871E census..kind regards Ivorglyn.

There is also a death record for a 20 year old CHARLOTTE ANN GUNDY ~ registered 4th Qtr. December 1884 St Saviour Southwark

A possible for Elizabeth Clara is a marriage in Somerset 5 Feb 1890 at Bicknoller after Banns

Elizabeth GUNDY aged 20 a spinster of Stogumber,  married Alfred John Stemp aged 28 a coachman and a widower of Bicknoller
Grooms father: Henry Stemp ~ carman
Brides father : Walter Gundy ~ farm bailiff
Witnesses: V B Curtis and M Davies

Later census's she is living in London and Hereford. BUT there is another Elizabeth Gundy of the same age and with a father Walter, so I am not sure on this one.

There was also another child of Walter and Ellen, who isn't with the family in 1871, but is there in 1861

The last sighting of her is 1881 as Ellen C Gundy 22 bn. Llangenny, a general servant in Lewisham.

Dear Claire,I've found the records for Walter T Gundy and it seems very likely you are right.As for the other records they seem very probable..Elizabeth (who married  Alfred John Stemp) was born in Herefordshire and father Water was a farm bailiff so I think this is correct.Since my last post I have found the marriage of Henry Gundy(b.1805) to Jane Williams.The marriage was probably on 28/Jan/1828 in Monmouth and on findmypast the bride and groom are Henry Junde and Helen Williams.On familysearch the bride and groom are Henry Gunde and jane williams.Thankyou ever so much ivorglyn

My great-grandmother was Elizabeth Clara Gundy B: 1870 Whitchurch.  Her father was Walter Gundy.  I think we share ancestors!
