Kate J Farey
« on: Wednesday 03 August 16 09:21 BST (UK) »
Hi, so as not muddy the waters with a previous post ( Not this lady) can anyone please identify who she is/was. She died aged 81 March q 1939 in Camberwell. I think her surname may be incorrect as her rough dob c1858 ties in with someone else I am looking for.

Thanks
John

Have you noticed that just above her on Freebmd there is a Catherine Farey - exactly the same age and place of death? Coincidence or the same person recorded under both names?

Deaths Mar 1939
Farey    Catherine    81    Camberwell    1d   971
Farey    Kate J    81    Camberwell    1d   971

Hi, thanks for the information. Looks as though this is not my lady sadly. I'm looking for Kate Jessie Filer (nee Hood) born 1857. Have her until 1929/30 on electoral registers and then nothing. Does not seem to appear on Freebmd-marriage or death. The search continues.

Certainly no sign of her is there on any deaths? I'm wondering now whether there could have been a mistake at some point when the registers were drawn up and as the one above was Farey whether she was copied under that name rather than Filer?

It might be worth contacting the Camberwell register office to see if they could look at the original registers.

Hi, have e-mailed Southwark Reg office with request to check out entry. Have found Catherine Farey now on 1901 census with husband James. They married 1881 in Edmonton.

Let us know what they say when they reply. Hope it is a mistake otherwise she's vanished into thin air!

Incidentally I can't see her on the 1939 register, which was taken in September of that year, which does make it look as if she died between 1930 and 1939.
