Newport Cemetery
« on: Wednesday 03 August 16 16:12 BST (UK) »
Hi

Does anybody know where I can get a more detailed plan of burial plots for Newport Cemetery in Lincoln. Have got a larger scale map showing the letters at the beginning,(from deceased online site) but not the exact area for the plot.(its a big cemetery)
Am going to Lincoln on Friday for a funeral and thought I would take a rare opportunity to pay my respects to some past relations i.e. my nan and grandad and several aunts and uncles. Will be taking my mum along who uses a walker to get around, so would like a more detailed map to locate the graves easier

Plot numbers Im hoping to find are K/1, N/272, R/371, R/370, X/1771, V/148, W/279

Heres hoping such a map exists

Approximately 7,000 of the graves are photographed. They may include your relatives and give a clue to the location - http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gsr&GScid=1972394

Thanks for your reply David it was very much appreciated :)

Have seen this site but the ancestors Im looking for are not showing up there. I was pleased to find them on deceased online with plot numbers with a rough location map

The one I really really want to find is K1, this is a hitherto unknown child who only lived a few hours. Mum can remember seeing her before school, then she was gone and unspoken about.

We do want to acknowledge her, Bless her she is in a common grave with 19 others, so will have no headstone unlike the others we will be looking for.

Just wanting to know if plot numbers went from left to right or right to left, as K1 will be the first one, so is it near the path at the beginning or under bushes in the furthest away corner?

Shall find out tomorrow hopefully

Have visited Newport Cemetery today and found my Nan, Grandad, Aunt and Uncle - plots R/370 & R/371. It would appear that the plots go from right to left as these two were side by side.

Still would like to locate K/1, looked all over the relevant area, but not sure where they started from in the K section. Would love to know where a more in-depth plot plan can be located, as I would really like to locate this particular child.

All help would be gratefully accepted

Thanks for looking

Have you contacted Bereavement Services at the council?

https://www.lincoln.gov.uk/living-in-lincoln/crematorium-and-cemeteries/lincolns-cemeteries/

As you have the plot details from Deceased Online they should be able to help you quite easily.

Dawn your a superstar

City of Lincoln Bereavement Services has come up trumps and sent me an exact plan of where plot K1 is. I should have been looking in the old section not the "new" section.

Next time I visit Lincoln I will know exactly where she is

Very quick reply, Fab department

Glad you got the information you needed!  When you next visit, if you need any help, there is a brick building near the entrance and the guys in there are really helpful.  They have old reference books and are happy to help find plots.
