Thurlow Fraser was not the son but the grandson, his mother easy Margaret Fraser who married a man with the same last name. Thurlow was my grandfather, I also would visit with Christine when I was young, she made the best oat cakes that I have ever eaten and am unable to replicate.

According to Thurlows death certificate his mum Jane is already deceased in 1874.

I corrected that the Thurlow I was referring to was the grandson not the son, his grandmother was Jane Cowie not rankin.

Hello. I know its some years since you had the query on Rootschat about Jean/ Jane RANKIN, wife of George FRASER but I'm hoping this will find you and we might connect. I also am a 4x grt granddaughter of this couple through their daughter Christina. She married a sailor named William Shanks and had several children but sadly Christina died too young. William and his second wife and most of the  surviving children of  both marriages emigrated to New Zealand in the late 1800s and here we are today. I'd appreciate hearing from you. Judith
PS George died in 1860 and Jane in 1874
