Marriage of Samuel Brewer about 1660 - 1665 - Lewes possibly
« on: Saturday 06 August 16 08:58 BST (UK) »
Samuel Brewer, gent married Margaret and the first child I can locate of the union was Mary in April 1665 [baptised St John the Baptist].

I am unable to locate Samuel & Margaret's marriage and am hoping for assistance.

I have a copy of the Sussex Family History Group Marriage Index CD and it doesn't seem to be listed.

I think you should be looking in London for the marriage.   Looks as if it might be Margaret Luxford, but that is just a guess!

Conveyance (bargain and sale), in consideration of £637 10s. 0d., from Edward Covert of Aberton [Edburton], esq., and Joan, his wife, Samuel Brewer of Staple Inn, London, gent., and Margaret, his wife, and Mary and Elizabeth Luxford, spinsters (which said Joan, Margaret, Mary and Elizabeth are four of the daus. and co-heirs of George Luxford, late of Hangleton, gent., dec'd.) to George Killner of Edburton, gent.

The National Archives site does have lots of possible references so do look.  As you know more about the family you will see the probable entries more easily than I can.   The extended family seem to have been very rich.

Sillgen,

Found the following by looking at the National Archives as you suggested.  What do you think John Higginbotham's abode??
