Confusion help Harris Steele 1898 Wigton
« on: Tuesday 09 August 16 20:50 BST (UK) »
Hello,

Looking at the 1911 census, which I cannot divulge due to copyright laws, there is a Harris Steele living with his parents Joseph and Elizabeth in Wigton, Cumberland.

At first, I though this was Harrison Walker Steele, born 1898, they share the same year of birth. However, looking at the 1901 census, Harrison Walker Steele is the son of William Steele, not Joseph and is living elsewhere.

I cannot find a corresponding birth for this Harris Steele, nor can I find him on the 1901 census, despite the fact he should be about 4 at the time

I would appreciate it if someone could help clear up the confusion, is this Harris Steele the same Harrison Walker Steele, or a different person entirely?

thanks

HWS is with same parents as 1901 in 1911.
Today I broke my personal record for most consecutive days alive.

thanks, Just found him.

That means that Harris Steele and Harrison Walker Steele are two different people, however it doesn't explain why there is no birth record for him in 1898, nor why there isn't a marriage or death.

I initially thought he moved to British Columbia with the family, but I cannot seem to find anything at the moment

I'm not sure if that's him, Joseph never had a daughter named Ethel

Margaret did, and she also had a son called Harris?

PS Margaret is Single in 1901.

EDIT on the 1921 Census of Canada living next door to Harris & wife Selma is a Thomas Irving Steele wonder if he is the one b c 1884 with Joseph & Elizabeth 1901?

When Harris Gill married Selma Blackburn Anders 7th May 1919 Cedar, British Columbia he gave his parents as Joseph Steele & Elizabeth Irving ( Both shown as Foster parents)

Just to clarify.  If you have looked up the entry yourself - it is permissable to post details.

What you cannot do is ask other members to look up the entry for you
