fogo /mc connell marriage

 Hi everyone. I am trying to trace an ancestor John Ewen Fogo born 18 April Edinburgh, Midlothian Scotland. He married in NZ  on 11 August 1868 but I can't find this marriage on BMD online  nor can I find his immigration record. His wife was Rachel McConnell born 13 April 1843 in Scotland. There is a Rachel McConnell on the NZ Immigration information arriving Lyttelton 20 Jan 1864 from Lanarkshire Scotland   with a group of family members  but I am unable to read her age to check if I have the correct Rachel. The family lived in Dunedin possibly in the Port Chalmers area.

I'd like help with finding  the marriage details for John Ewen Fogo and also his immigration details . His parents were Robert Chalmers Fogo (born Edinburgh 1804) and Mary Telfer.  Thanks Orkrad
Rachel Mc Connell's parents were Henry Mc Connell and Rachel Pollock-- both Scottish born.

You're welcome Orkrad, looking on Papers Past I can't see any references to John early on, though there a number for Thomas Fogo, I presume his brother (Yes, I see on familysearch Thomas Telfer Fogo b 1835 Edinburgh to the same parents). Will keep looking for immigration details.

Oh there's quite a family tragedy which you probably know about in regards Thomas' death. I haven't read all the accounts, however I did see one that said he arrived in NZ in 1861 from Victoria. https://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/newspapers/AS19001025.2.54.1?query=%20thomas%20fogo

Actually this article says he joined his brother in a boot business, presumably in 1861, so I guess John was already in NZ. https://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/newspapers/ODT19001001.2.44?query=%20thomas%20fogo

Marriage Rachel McConnell to John Fogo reg no 1868/8885

The NZ Society of Genealogists hold a copy of the marriage certificate, probably someone has donated it, because it was the wrong family for them, or it could be that there is a researcher interested in the family.
