Can anyone help Iam stuck on my scobel/scoble line I have jane scobel/scoble (nee name ?) 1781- 1847 age 66 totnes vol 9 1st qtr p374 line 44
They had a son William scobel/scoble 1811 who later went on to marry mary Ann Harris 1877 age 66 2nd art totnes vol 5 b p128 line 198
But who was williams father and what as his mothers maiden name and where did they come from
Mary Ann Harris and William scobel/scoble went on to have a daughter jane scobel/scoble on both her maggrage certificate her father signs his name as john? Can anyone shed light on this also many many thanks

I am getting slightly confused here with what I take to be your GRO references.  The first one seems to be Jane's death and the second one appears to relate to William's death

No age is given for Jane's death but as you appear to know her birth year that becomes 66 the same as William

Ok I've got myself a bit clearer now, you are looking for the name of William's father.

Did you look for William and Mary on the 1841 census? 

I've found what appears to be the family in Ashprington, Totnes - Jane age 60, William & Mary both 30 with three children Jane (5), Mary (3) and John (1)

William's occupation is given as Ag Lab.

I've found a burial for a John Scobell, birth year 1777, burial date 10 Jan 1841 at Ashprington.

Could this be William's father?

It may be worth obtaining the death certificate to see who registered the death.

I have not been able to find a marriage for a John and Jane who may well have married in Ashprington.  You would need to find out where the marriage records for Ashprington are and perhaps someone can look them up for you.

Devon Records Office or the local history society or maybe a Rootschatter who has access to the relevant marriage records.

Like Girl Guide, I am confused by what you have posted. I cannot trace a Mary Ann HARRIS marrying a William or John SCOBLE but can find a Mary Ann HARRIS who married a James SCOBLE in 1873. When was Jane the daughter born? There is a William born 1810/11 in Ashprington shown on various censuses, but he seems to have married an Ann FOSTER in 1835.

James SCOBELL married Charlotte TILLY 1843 (FreeBMD)

A Tree has Georges Wife as Mary Ann KNAPMAN (Marriage FreeBMD 1844 as George Scobell)
They have his Parents as JOHN Scoble and JENNY nee EARLE died 25 March1847.

May be worth pursuing.
