Hi i have discoverers the certain death into shanghai office Frances Augusta Clifton nee de Yrujo. Myers query issues here obituary has her in omoy in 1840'this is unusual because I have her in 1841 census without letters address to her. How would a single woman get too omoy. She married Samuel Clifton in Hong Kong in1851'any pointers please

I found my great great aunt death in Shanghai in 1905. Fanny Augusta Clifton . She had been in China since 1840. her death notice mentioned her arrival In Omoy in 1840. I have two questions . 1. How did she get to Omoy in 1840. an dhow do I find out . and then second. Where is she buried in Shanghai.
her late husband Samuel Clifton die din England in 1872. They were identifies in China , Their family names are Limby and stockwell, and derrick. All people who live din China for many years . Thanks for any pointers . Fred.

From some previous research, Western cemeteries that once exisited in large Chinese cities do no longer exist due to urban growth!  This is the case in Beijing and I can only think it would also be the case in Shanghai!  It's very sad to think that it could now be a ring road.

Didn't you find her in London in the 1841 census? Perhaps she went to China a bit later than that.

"Forgotten Souls: A Social History of the Hong Kong Cemetery" describes her as the granddaughter of Brigade Major Charles Jones of the Royal Hussars. Would he have been her guardian?

In addition to far too many topics on the same family, looking for the same information again, etc. you have neglected in this new topic to tell us ALL that has already been found about Frances Augusta Clifton. Her maiden name, age, marriage date, census records, etc. would all have been useful at the start of the thread rather than people trying to find details in your previous ones.

  To other replies how does one detail 50 years of geneology research in one post . i asked two specific questions .I didn't need anyone to do any research .
each time i discover something new it opens more questions . surely then we are allowed to ask for pointers which i did. for the information forwarded by some thank you .i do take note and i do then further research

 i was hoping someone may have a shipping list , a residents list or a military list which they could inform me of. i don't ask for any person
