Samuel Connor DOB 1848 AYTON, Berwickshire
« on: Sunday 14 August 16 16:52 BST (UK) »
I have traced Samuel Connor on the 1851 census, which shows his place of birth as Ayton, Berwickshire, on his father's census, Jeremiah Connor based at Newton by the Sea, Northumberland. I've been unable to trace him beyond the 1851census and he's not with the family in the 1861 census when Jeremiah Conner was in Northfleet, Kent. I looked for him in England and Scotland but no luck. Can anyone help me on this?
I'm researching: O'Connor, Connor, Rea, Smith, Skilton

Are you descended from one of his children?  If so - have you tried searching using the childs name?

I would say it is Rosie.
His address is British Street, Bow which is his mother's address according to Bernard's thread re John Connor.

Thanks for the info about Samuel getting his Mates Certificate. What a coincidence, for his  younger brother Thomas O'Connor married an Elizabeth Brannon and her Father was a Master Mariner and the Brannon family lived not that far from British Street.. Small world or what!!  I'll now start checking Merchant Marine records and also census records for Parishes in EastLondon, but Samuel's census and records are difficult to discover.
