Just for the record, there was no such place as Barony - it was a huge parish covering a large part of the Glasgow area and it is often possible to pin an event down to a more precise location. For example, Andrew Leggat Fell (1852) was born in Calton. Hope that helps.

YUp, I understand think I was just using the terms Barony etc because thats what the Old Parish records had initially given me. I've still a lot of work and information to plough through, but thought I'd share some of what I have mustered together, Thanks again.

Hi Krellia
This is my direct line from James Spiers and Margaret Robertson. Margaret was originally from Carmunnock on the outskirts of Glasgow and her parents were Richard Robertson and Helen Mason as far as I am aware. My line is from their son James who married Mary Beveridge.
James' father was Robert Speer (Spiers) (1726) who married Margaret Turnbull (1731) Both lived and married in Cambuslang.
The records of their parents are incomplete due to the way that they were registered in the early 1800's, but Robert's father was James Speir and mother not registered, and Margaret's father was John Turnbull and mother also not registered.
 I hope this helps.

   Tom

Glasgow was made up of the City parish, the Barony parish & the Gorbals. Glasgow was not originally a Royal Burgh but a Burgh of Barony & this was the extent of it's control. The Cathedral post the Reformation was sub-divided & one of these divisions was the Barony parish kirk.
