Sparse records - George Alfred William White, b1869?
« on: Wednesday 17 August 16 09:59 BST (UK) »
I was chasing some relatives, the Snelling sisters of Redgrave Suffolk, who have a strange Hastings connection.

One of them, Beatrice Caroline Snelling, b1863, Redgrave, married George Alfred William White.

FreeBMD has this;
Marriages   Sep   1893   Snelling   Beatrice Caroline      Hastings   1   2b   53
Marriages   Sep   1893   White   George Alfred W      Hastings   1   2b   53

They then lived in Kew; 1901 Census, Piece: 677; Folio: 83; Page: 6
has them at 284, Sandycombe Rd, with their son Kenneth, b1894, Boscombe, Hants.

FreeBMD again, for Kenneth

Births Mar 1894
White    Kenneith         Christchurch    2b    677 (mis-spelling of Kenneth)

Using George's calculated birth data from the census, I found (FreeBMD)
Births   Mar   1869   White   George Alfred W      Lymington   0   2b   585

I can find no other data on George or Kenneth, and no data after 1901 for Beatrice Caroline Snelling/White.

Ancestry offered me a rather good looking 1902 death in Australia (which would show emigration, explaining the sparse data) for Beatrice Caroline White, but the lovely FREE Australian newspaper archive showed it to be a false hit;

Can anybody help, especially with any other data on George Alfred William White?

I think I've found him (and his parents) in Census 1881.

Class: RG11; Piece: 1641; Folio: 24; Page: 41

I don't know why all my searching yesterday didn't find that.  ???

First quick look - He and Beatrice divorced, on her petition of 1904, finalised 1905.  (UK Civil Divorce Records 1858-1915).  Adultery (him) and deserting her more than 2 years previously.  Interesting divorce papers includes marriage cert confirming what you have and birth of Kenneth (another child died).

There is a marriage of a Beatrice C White in 1918 in Fulham but there are many others without the "C".

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,

Possible marriage for George etc  Q1 1911 Marylebone.  Possible him in 1911 if you look for 1869 birth Lymington with wife Lilian Bertha which cross checks with the marriage.

Given the divorce,and the details thereof, I think his landlady (3 years his junior, an actress, and him a so-called Theatrical Manager) had best look to her honour...  :)

Thanks for all your help.
