Frederick Henry H Tanner

Hi, according to gro records on freebmd Frederick died aged 41 June q 1880 Bedminster. I am looking for a Frederick Henry Tanner born 12.7.1839 to William and Harriet. He appears with his parents in 1841 in Oxford, and then with his uncle William Hood in 1851 in Reading. His father died in 1843 and Harriet is in London on the 1851 census with another son Harry and daughter Eliza. I lose Harriet after 1854 when she is the informant of daughters death. There is seemingly no record of a Frederick Henry H* Tanner between 1837-1840 other than my one. Does the second H* possibly stand for Hood. Also cannot find Frederick on 1861/71 census. Any help or clues welcome.

There is a marriage for Frederick Henry Hood Tanner (bn c1840) in Basaleg, Monmouthshire in 1866

He married Frances Diana Briddis.  Frederick fathers name William

There is a tree with Frederick Henry H Tanner death 1880 Bedminster (no parents on tree) born Oxford

Marriage 1866 Newport Frances Diana Jones

Maybe check for her in census Wales and see if husband could be yours.

BMD have had 3 goes at her name - Pripsis - Priddis - Briddis but not Jones as per the tree.

Frances Diana Tanner 33 widow is in Bedminster so that seems to match up.

That is a long time between the 1866 marriage and birth of Ida in 1874  ::)   :)

What was his occupation do you know?

In Scotland in 1871 there is a Henry Hood born England 1837 lodger
Frances Hood born Wales 1847 lodger

He is a master mariner

Hi, Looks as though you are on to him. His father was William Tanner, a tailor. Frederick was born Oxford. It looks as though Frances (nee Jones)was a widow having married a William Priddis the previous year in the Newport M reg district. Should be able to trace  him now in 1871 with Frances. As I said earlier I lost him after 1851 when he was with his wealthy uncle William Hood so do not know his occupation.

Hi all, firstly have ordered the 1866 marriage cert and will let you know contents. Would like your comments on the following if you dont mind and please pull apart if I'm being off beam.
1. Frances was originally born Frances DINAH Jones, sept q 1845 Exeter 10 85 parents John/Ann
2 Marries William Priddis 1865 Newport M- William Priddis dies June q 1865 Honiton
3 Frances Diana Priddis marries Frederick Tanner 1866
4 Frederick dies aged 41 in 1880.
5.A Caroline Tanner marries a Robert Weeks (18.6.1885) June q 1885 Bedminster (her father JOHN TANNER)
6. 1891/1901/1911 census all have a Frances D/Diana Weeks born Exeter c 1845/46
7. 1931 Frances D Weeks dies aged 83 (=c 1848) Newton A
