Read a good article about elopers in the early 1900s going to Groton in Connecticut to elope. Am now trying to see if there are any records on marriages in Groton Connecticut. If records are not online I wonder if there are any researchers out there who know the Family History Centers in the area that may have records. Any help appreciated in tracing an elopement marriage of Elizabeth Higgins and a Frederick King or Roy c 1904 in Groton Connecticut.

I know we are not encouraged to do similar posts but I was wondering whether it is worth starting a new post with a heading relating to the possible Conecticutt/Groton marriage c1904.  It may bring in some new more specific replies.  Because we now have this post 4 pages long it is not so likely to attract other people.

I keep having a look for her elsewere but am not getting any clues

I am looking for the marriage of an Elizabeth Madeline Higgins to a Frederick P King or Roy c 1904.

Elizabeth was born 1888 and Frederick was born c 1883. They were said to have eloped from Massachusetts to Connecticut.

Any help appreciated.

I am sorry that I suggested it, it was my fault not kinsey's.

I thought that as the original post had gone on for so long and was 'off track' where the marriage look up was concerned as we had been concentrating on census returns and anyone looking would probably not have bothered to look to see what we had found.  I thought that by isolating the marriage request it may bring some results.  As I am in the UK I had hoped that perhaps someone with better access to marriage records would know where to look.

Sorry we don't seem to progressing with this though at least we have eliminated some families.

I wonder if shellyesq or anyone else are able to give some observations on Groton Connecticut marriages and why people 'eloped' there.  Would they be included in indexes
