I've worked out that - for the moment at least, until they remove this too, you can still search by day and month of birth by editing the URL (the web address)

Do your search by year (when searching by date of birth, I usually allow a 5 yr margin, to allow for vanity and forgetfulness).  In the example below, I'm looking for someone born 5th May 1920
Then when you get the search results, go to the address bar in your browser.

The address will end
Code: [Select]
&yearofbirth=1920&yearofbirth_offset=5

adding
Code: [Select]
&monthofbirth=05
to the end of that will limit the results to those whose date of birth is transcribed as being in May (use 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 07, 08, 09, 10, 11, 12)

adding
Code: [Select]
&dayofbirth=20 will limit to those whose day of birth is transcribed as being May 20th.

So
Code: [Select]
http://search.findmypast.co.uk/results/world-records/1939-register?firstname=betty&firstname_variants=true&yearofbirth=1920&yearofbirth_offset=5&monthofbirth=05&dayofbirth=20 will give you all the people called Betty born on the 20th May between 1915 and 1925.  (With the caveat that it only shows you open records, and people who are transcribed with those dates of birth, of course.)

I've just written to Find My Past about the 1939 Register re removal of birth date and month.  I shall be interested to see what they say about it.

They have taken away a very useful tool.

But it's still there  :-\  (snap Rosie)

FindMyPast in response to posts about the disappearing birth/month search boxes on the 1939 Register have confirmed that this was in error and were working on resolving it.  Apparently resolved a couple of hours ago.

Yes, they replied to me to say they'd passed it on to their technical people and then a few minutes later, another response to say they'd reinstated it.

I've had reason to complain to them recently too re mismatched spouse suggestions

Where ancestry gave all four matches on the page for an Irish marriage FindMyPast gave only one which I followed and wasted quite a bit of time on.

It was later searching for another marriage that something "felt off" that I searched on ancestry and realised that FMPs suggestion was incorrect.

Although I find it a good site for some searches I am now double checking everything!  >:(

Agree - as a test I searched for Jones in Denbighshire baptisms - no dates so should have been thousands and thousands . It returned with 46 - mainly Ap Jones.

Now it's just  got the 'sorry' notice up.  Maybe it's sad to have it's sister site taken away  :-\ ::)
