It's a long shot I know but i'm hoping to find a street map of Lambeth showing the house numbers. I've looked at dozens but none show them. I'm looking specifically for the location of 51/50 Fore Street which was demolished in the early 1860s to make way for the Albert Embankment.

Any ideas welcome :)
There was a discussion recently ( about 5 or 6 weeks ago)  about the numbering system. I will try to find it  for you.

In this instance the OP doesn't need to know about the system for numbering houses - they are looking for maps with the house numbers marked on them.

Looking at the enumerator's route in the 1851 census (it is missing from the 1861 census for some reason) I have estimated the location of number 51 within a couple of blocks.

Without a very detailed map showing house numbers we will not find the exact location of no 51.

Depending on how determined you are to find where no 51 used to be, you may find some help at Lambeth Archives in the form of fire insurance maps, tithe maps, and possibly plans related to the Albert Embankment which may include detail of Fore Street.

Probably a different Street but there are mentions in the Newspaper
1862-  R Bain 50, Lower Fore Street Lambeth
an 1869 piece gives that address as the Ship Tavern.
If so...
