Thanks for the info. Really interesting.
I guess Hans was a POW. It would be interesting to know where he was born and maybe his war details. Was he a pilot, soldier or sailer?

Regards

Bob

I have some information on Hans Gunter Schindler. I believe he was born in Berlin 30th October 1924 and in 1949 he married Maggie Dennett-Thorpe.

If this is "your" Hans Gunter Schindler let me know and I will find all the information that I have.

hi,sounds sort of right.im the great grandson of maggie dennet-thorpe.and the marrage in 1949  is right.the info i have on hans says possibly he was born in 1919 but as yet i have no positive info on that.i have a copy of some of his notes with his parents names and birthdates on for unfortunately it is hard to read so i have sent it to a friend in germany to translate for me,we dont know to much about where he came from and believe he never found his german family after the war.but he did lose his brother Harry in late 41.i have a copy of conformation for the german army..If you do have any information i would be very intrested ,many thanks carl

Carl

I'm not sure that the information I have is "your" Hans.

Hans & Maggie Schindler lived at No 9 Pepys Terrace for over 40 years. I have a picture of Maggie in 2002. (and possibly a picture of Hans). I found some information on a Hans Schindler dated 19th Dec 1940 which stated that Hans was residing at a Hostel for Boys. It states that his father was dead, his mother last heard of in Germany and he came to the Uk in 1938 under the care of Inter-Aid Committee. It gives his birth as 30/10/24 Berlin.

If you would like copies of this info let me know ... and where to send it.

this is intresting.i remember going to pepys terrace as a kid.so that part is correct.i have a letter from hans belongings from his father in june 1942 though asking for him to be posted closer to home so he was able to work in the family store on the evenings and weekends.his dad states he was not very well at that point.if possible i would love to see what you have.many thanks carl.
