GT Deakin and daughters 1913
« on: Thursday 01 September 16 09:46 BST (UK) »
This snapshot of Geo. Deakin and his daughters, outside their house in Tunstall in the Potteries, was taken in 1913 (the younger girl was born in December 1912).  It's the only photograph we have of George.  The problem is how to restore and/or crop this photograph to produce the most useful image for family history usage.  I've tried cropping each individual, the top two figures only, and all three minus the house, and then trying to enhance each.  Quality of the final photographic product (or lack of it) keeps defeating me.  What is the best approach, do colleagues think?

HI BB...If you scan each individual in isolation to the rest of the photo at a resolution of 400dpi you should get good individual photos of them. Just pull the lines around the area the individual that you want to scan.

Thanks Carol.

I don't have the photograph and so my starting point is a 2MB image.  I'll see what I can do to crop and isolate each.
