Robert Gault, a soldier living in Castleroe (father Thomas Gault) married an Emma Fulton on 20 December 1917 (Macosquin Presbyterian Church, witnesses were J. Matthews and Rosena Gage).

Robert Gault and Emma Fulton were previously the witnesses to a marriage that took place on 14 May 1914 (Macosquin Presbyterian Church) between Lizzie Gault of Castleroe (father Thomas) and Samuel McCloskey (father John).

Edited to add:  Robert Gault and Emma Fulton had a daughter in 1920 and another in 1921, the family at that point living in Shuttle Hill Coleraine.

Samuel McCloskey and Lizzie Gault had a daughter Mary Ann in Ballyness on 20 August 1915, then a daughter in Castleroe (1918) and twins (boy/girl) in 1920 in Castleroe (father Samuel was living in Bushtown).

Could be just a co-incidence of name and location, but possibly someone related to these Gaults in this WW2 photo (2nd photo down, under 'Members of the 6th Light Anti-Aircraft Battery'):

The Derry Journal of 6 December 1909, covering a meeting of Coleraine Rural District Council, confirmed that 'it was agreed to appoint Thomas Gault, Castleroe, as caretaker of Camus burying-ground.'

Thanks everybody for the help!

This has given me more information that I anticipated!!

I think these children Isabella Gault seemed to have with no father listed were either born to her future husband David McCloskey, or they at least adopted the McCloskey surname because a lot of the names ring a bell! Just need to check them with the information I have already!!

Thanks again,

Ben
