BENNETT & ELAM marriage 1907

Sorry, but you won't find the Bennett/Elam marriage on-line - it was at Holbeck District Registered Building (YorkshireBMD)

So because it wasn't in a church the record would never have been scanned like so many others were? Okay thanks, at least I know that purchasing the certificate is the only way to confirm her details.

Thank you to those that replied previously. I have just discovered that Henry Bennett and Clara Elam were a different couple to the pair I was looking for. Apparently it is Henry BENNETT and Clara HALLAS which doesn't seem to have been fully transcribed so I had been looking for the wrong Clara.

Is there any way to know the location of the marriage apart from it being in the Dewsbury District? Anyone have access to newspapers from the time?

From FreeBMD I can't see any marriage between Henry Bennett and Clara Hallas anywhere in England or Wales between 1890 and 1920.

The names on the same page for the March 1907 Dewsbury marriages -
Albert Bedford, Mary Riley Charlesworth, Clara Hallas and Peter Mortimer Stott.

The transcriber seems to have had a problem with Henry's entry in March 1907 and it hasn't therefore linked with others with the same number but as a single entry with no matching spouses.

Strange - so page 983 has 5 names 

Ah, ha - Peter Mortimer Stott has been given page 983 and should be page 993.

I'll report the corrections to FreeBMD

Thank you BumbleB and isobelw. The only way I was able to confirm HALLAS as being the correct wife was finding a burial record (and consequently a birth) for a previously unknown BENNETT child giving the same address that Henry's eldest son later showed on his marriage cert in 1934.
