Are they? I had no idea.

Is that the Durham Campus? Or SRC?

Thank you for the background info.

I have a death from 1858 at Pavey Row in Stockton.  Do you know where that was?

Durham Campus.

Pavey Row is a completely new on one me & I cant find it on a census street look-up either.  Are you sure about the name?  If its at all unclear it might be worth posting that bit of the certificate on here so people with local knowledge can see if they can figure it out.

Ah what a shame about the campus.

The certificate is a handwritten transcript and the register office refuse to supply a photocopy of the original.

Do you know what church he/she was buried in as that might narrow down the area a little, plus any other addresses you have for the family around that time?

Stockton registrars are usually really helpful, so I'm surprised.

They're very helpful I agree - they confirmed verbally that the address was Pavey Row, Stockton but they wouldn't scan the original image.

The relative was buried in the parish churchyard of St. Thomas', and by 1861, her spouse is living in Middlesbrough.  So not much help there really.

I thought perhaps it might be a bad transcript of Park Row, but burials there would more likely be at Holy Trinity I think.

I'll keep thinking!

Thank you.

Going back to Carpenter's Square - would it be the site of the old race course?  Wasn't it a dog race course there at one time?

Sorry about that, my internet went down.  Here's a side-by-side... it may look familiar to you:

That's wonderful. Thank you for sharing.

Was there a pottery in Thornaby in the 1860s?

And was Thornaby known as such? I often see it called South Stockton at that point.
