Snardford Parish Registers, Jacklin late 19th early 20th C.
« on: Tuesday 06 September 16 12:19 BST (UK) »
Good morning to you,
(I'll start with saying that I am researching on behalf of a friend.)

We are looking for an Ivy Jacklin and her father John Jacklin who we know were in the Snarford area in 1934.

In 1934 Maureen Jacklin was born in Gainsborough - mother Ivy Jacklin, unmarried - in what was the old workhouse.

Maureen then went on to be adopted. Maureen was told that her mother, Ivy Jacklin, was 17 when she gave birth... but that is not confirmed

Maureen's birth certificate states that her mother Ivy Jacklin was a general servant domestic in Snarford.

There are letters from Ivy Jacklin's father, John Jacklin, giving permission for the adoption of Maureen - confirming Ivy's father as John Jacklin.

So we have
Maureen Jacklin born 1934, Gainsborough-  unmarried mother Ivy Jacklin
Ivy Jacklin born ? father John Jacklin
John Jacklin born ?, lived?

We have found an Ivy on freembd born in 1912 (reg dist Boston) - (if only she was born early 1911 :)) - which would make her age 22 when her daughter Maureen was born.

Fingers crossed, thank you

Brilliant idea.
(I had thought of searching the 1939 reg at one point but age won out and I got sidetracked onto somewhere else. ???)

I've just had a look and there are def a few Ivy's to look into, so once again thank you very much.

You may be looking for birth registration for an Ivy Moody born just before her parents marriage  :-\

Hello Rosie99,
I did type a reply yesterday but can't see it on here...

Thank you so much for your help... do you have a crystall ball?
You pointed me to Ivy's birth and from there I zoomed back to 1820 on the census and then the 1600s on ancestry trees.
Blimey - you are amazing, thank you so very much.
My friend will be thrilled... I told her that I have 'some' info for her... I can't wait to show her what I have found and then she can pass it on to her 83 year old nan - (adopted). I can't imagine having to wait until I am 83 to find out my roots - poor lovely. Still we've done it now.
Bless you, katy

Hi katy

I am so glad that you have found what you wanted. It is always a bonus when it can be passed on to an elderly family member, so often we are too late.

Rosie

Katy, I dont want to put a dampener on your "finds", but do be aware that one of the tree's has over 222 thousand names. Some of them are mine, and the source person is the wrong man.So none of them should be on there. I have informed the tree owner but nothing was done . I hope you have checked the information on the tree's, checked out their sources etc and not just taken everything as gospel.
Incidently I would be interested as to where you found an 1820 census?

Sorry for my delay in replying.
When I said 1820 in the census I meant that the age of the person got me back to 1820. :)
Yes, I usually do census and bmd etc first and then I might look at the trees.
Thank you very much
