Hi Sinann,
Many thanks for the last two links.

I have been looking again at the irish ancestors website:http://www.irishancestors.ie/search/marriage/
This website indicates that George Audley  married Sarah Robinson in 1816 Reference Waterford & Lismore.

Somebody else has told me  that they married 3rd July 1926 in Waterford (possibly St Patricks Church of Ireland but did not cite a source To me the 1926 date is more logical as George Audley died in 1864 aged 63 reference http://historicgraves.com/abbeylands/wa-abld-0183/grave

continued from previous message (as I pressed the post button instead of Preview!!

If George Audley did die aged 63 in 1864 he would have been 15 in 1816 and 25 in 1826. I therefore think it would be more logical that the married took place in 1926 and not 1816.

Any help would be appreciated

Could be a simple error 1 and 2 are next to each other on a keyboard, both end in 6.
You could try contacting them.

Thanks Sinann,
I intend to contact them but if someone could give me a reference to a website that says 1926 it would be better to cite that website rather than say somebody tells me

Ah ha
New records came online last week, should have thought to check them sooner.
1826.

This index is probably where IGR got the information in the first place and the year is just a typo error.

There may well be more there that will help.

Hi Sinann,
That is brilliant the new link shows that IGR website contains a transcription error.

I believe that the link you gave me is to an index of Marriage Licences for Waterford and Lismore. Would you happen to know whether those marriage licences have survived and whether copies can be obtained?
Thanks for all your help

All the info is on one of the links on the second link in my post.
Direct to it here http://census.nationalarchives.ie/search/dm/home.jsp not good news, destroyed in the 1922 explosion.

Hi Sinann,
Thanks for your message; you are giving me a good list of free websites for Family History Research in Ireland.

The fact that the marriage licences were destroyed in 1922 is disappointing.  Can you think of any other way I can find the names of the parents of George Audley and Sarah Robinson who married in 1826.
