Wow!  Thank you so much  myluck! & Dathai

How I wish I had posted my query sooner on this site! All of your links will keep
me busy for some time!

Can I 'chance my arm' one more time by asking?
I know Dr Edward John Macartney Watson b.22 Nov 1872 was one of this family. He worked at St Patrick Dun's hospital. I saw a photograph of him in a group as a young rugby player. Also in the photograph was Dr John Magee Finny of the hospital and Trintity College. Was Dr Finny's wife Anne also a member of this Watson family?

To expand on my Watson of Dublin search....
Having traced my Watson family to Bengeworth/Evesham Worcestershire c.1491, I was surprised
to see this Watson family in Dublin with a similar Coat of Arm as my family.

Ours in Bengeworth-  Azure a fesse ermine between three suns in splendour proper

Dublin-      Azure a chevron ermine between three suns in splendour proper

Not only were the Arms similar, but the family stated that they were from Bengeworth!
Francis Watson [a man] having moved to Dublin in the early 1700’s.
Francis became the Master of the guild of Saddle makers and d.1749. His son's were engaged in the Publishing/Printing and book-selling business in Capel Street

I suspect that the reason I could not fit Francis of Dublin into my pedigree was because he moved from London to Dublin- not directly from Worcestershire. Therefore I might have missed a generation, not knowing his father, who may in fact be on my pedigree [?]

Hello,
I am a distant relation of Sarah Watson (nee Morgan) so any descendants of hers are family of mine.
Her brother Owen Morgan came to Australia in 1839 and a large Morgan family now exists here.
I would be happy to share information about the Morgans and Watsons with you.
Cheers.
Rodney.

I am a descendent of Agnes Watson who was married to John Magee Finny.

I have some Watson family records and am happy to help where possible.

My grandfather Edmund John Champion Finny was the son of William Watson Finny oldest son of Agnes and John Finny.  My grandfather moved to New Zealand as a very young adult in the 1920s.

William Watson of Dublin Steam Packet Co fame married Anne Morgan who was Welsh.  They had four sons - William, Edward, Charles and Arthur and two daughters Emily (or perhaps Edith) and Agnes.  Apparently all the Watson children were home schooled by Agnes who must have done a very good job.  Charles apparently tipped his intake at Sandhurst and went onto a distinguished military career eventually being knighted.  Arthur (Lt Col) was killed in the Boer war leading the 1st Battalion of the Suffolk Regiment into an ambush - there is quite a lot written about this engagement.  The massacre was so bad that the hill involved was renamed Suffolk Hill.  Seems that the Suffolk’s were betrayed by a spy.  William and Edward joined the family business.  William Watson and Anne Morgan lived at 25 Fitzwilliam Place Dublin.  Edward seems to have inherited the house.  Interestingly the Finny family home (purchased by John Magee Finny and Agnes Watson) was 36 Merrion Square just around the corner.  Unfortunately it is no longer in the family!

Hope this all helps.
