« on: Wednesday 14 September 16 15:34 BST (UK) »
Hi wasn't sure if i should post here or on a similar thread so apologies in advance....
My research has taken me to Harris where my 4rth g grandparents are from....
Catherine McSween b 1805 ? possibly stockinish married Roderick McKay , I think they stayed in rhyenigadale as Roderick died there in 1886. They had 8 children that i know off..
would love to here from anyone else with same link or any info would be great..... I have tried to find where/when Catherine died but no luck as yet...Her parents were John mcsween and Ann McLeod....Rodericks parents were John McKay and Catherine mackaskill..

thanks in advance

Hi Jackie,

Can you please tell me how you know who Catherine's parents are if you you haven't found her death cert. & are not sure of when/where she was born?

I'm not sure if you know of the variants for names but M(a)cSween has them too such as M(a)cSwain/M(a)cSwan/M(a)Swin etc. which is down to no exact spellings/accents etc.

Hi Anne
ive traced back from marion mckay 1887-1956 her father roderick mckay ( lochs) 1862-1891, his mother was isabella mckay 1835-1905 who married duncan mckay in 1861...Her parents are given as catherine mcsween and roderick mckay ( harris)...i then went onto the hebridean site which gave me a family flow chart showing catherine mcsween 1805 ? parents Ann mcleod and john mcsween....
Havent been able to locate them or her anywhere else yet.....

Hi Jackie,

Have you been trying to contact RootsChat help ? We received a very strange message (maybe) off you earlier which we suspected to be a spam message.
