I have William down as being born Holyhead Anglesey on 1901 census, but according to that so was his wife Mary (Riley) and she was born in Ireland.  According to records they married in Anglesey  in 1881. Family notes say he was born in Wales possibly Flintshire and was for some reason known as "Jack" Davies   He is named on his eldest daughters birth cert as William though! These notes also say he served in the Cheshire regiment but with no date, he would have been much too old for the 1914-18 war.    In 1881 census he was lodging in Beaumaris his trade a plasterer.  Any info would be brilliant as I seem to be banging my head against a brick wall on this one.

The 1881 wedding index gives the spelling of Mary's surname as Reilly.  What information does this certificate give about Williams father, who were the witnesses

Rosie, I havent got the marriage cert as yet for William.  Keyboard, yes that is the family in Baker St  my nan in law was born there, so there is a possibility he is the William Davies b 1861 Holyhead  who's mother was a Jones.

Hi again, considering the first born male child of William & Mary was a David b 1884 I would suggest the baptism of William was 18th March 1863 Holyhead Father David occ Glazier Mother Ann

Thanks Keyboard Are there any other listings for the family in Baker St 1871?  I have a couple of weeks now to pull this side of the tree together and get it printed for sister in laws 73 Birthday, so have been up till 2am the last two nights digging through old notes and transcribing my original tree over to new software.........and finding a lot of mistakes   I am just hoping with all the children they had if I add them to the tree that it will not need a printout of 40ft or more! My Great nan in law Sarah Higgins had a child every year from 1857 when she was 20 until her last one born in 1878 when she was 51, 11 children in all!

Hi well one thing. I can confirm the father of William aged 9 in Baker Street 1871 was a David but he was a BRAZIER on 1861 census :-

Well we all know just how well things were transcribed back then! My surname was "changed" three times between 1874 and 1901 I wonder if a brazier would have been more likely back then than a glazier? I know William was known as a "master plasterer".   So I wonder if the Jones family in Holy head 1851 was Anns family, it seems likely as they did end up back with the parents in many instances when they frst married, does that one name any family members?  Will be owing you for looking this lot up   Thank you for the info
