David Elias and family 1822 onwards
« on: Wednesday 21 September 16 13:41 BST (UK) »
Greetings nice people, I am trying to trace information on the Elias family as my Grandmother was one of them. David Elias , my great grandfather, was born in Rhymney in 1822 and married Mary Evans I know not when. I know they had only one son ,Elias, and I think 7 daughters. My grandmother was also a Mary and I know that my grandparents married in 1901 in Hoxton , London but I don't know how or where they met.  Any help or any ideas would be wonderful as I seem to be hitting a brick wall. Needless to say, I am an "L" plate and could do with any advice. Thank you! Keith

Esther

Also a Phoebe so that's your 7 girls and one boy  :D

This could be the marriage in Bedwelty Dec 1864
Elias Daniel

on the proviso it is Daniel and not David

Hi Keth

Welcome to rootschat

The 1901 marriage does name the father as Daniel Elias (deceased) occ Collier so the 1871 census that Milliepede found looks good

this is confusing

there is a baptism Sion Independant Rhymney Iron Works (which is where the family lived on most census)
Daniel Elias son of Elias & jane
born 16 oct 1820
baptism 22 July 1821

1841
Hamlet of Uchlecoed? Rhymney Iron works
Elias Elias 50 Minor N
Jane 45
Daniel 15 Miner Y
Ann 15 Y
David 10 Miner Y
(in 1841 census ages of adults 15 + years rounded down to the nearest 5)

then 1851 there is in same area
Daniel Elias  Head M 30 Haulier Bedwellty
Gewnllian wife 29 Gelligaer Glam
Elia son 7 Bedwellty
Catherine daughter 5 Bedwellty
John son 3
Thomas son 9mths
plus 2 lodgers
HO107 2448 561 9

there is a marriage reg FreeBMD
Dec qtr 1842 Abegavenny
on same page
Daniel Elias
Gwenai Morgan

then in 1861 there is what looks like the same family but the head is entered as DAVID Elias???

Is this a different family - if so where is Daniel (who married mary) before 1871???
