Samuel WILBORE (1596-1656) m. Ann SMITH (1592 - ?) 13 Jan 1620
« on: Thursday 22 September 16 18:27 BST (UK) »
Am hoping someone might have more information on the family of Ann SMITH, first wife of Samuel WILBORE.

Her father is said to be Richard SMITH. However, there are two Ann SMITHs born 1592 ... one in Sible Hedingham, Essex, and the other six miles away in Earls Colne, Essex, both with father Richard SMITH. The Earls Colne Ann was baptized in April, the Sible Hedingham child was baptized in October.

ANY additional information very much appreciated. Thanks!

I have found a burial record on another site for Ann Smith buried 27/02/1610 at Earls Colne, the church records are very faded and I cant read them.

Just a possible

I think the Anne smith buried in 1610 at earls clone in 1610 might be daughter of Henry smith? But, as you say, it is very feint and difficult to read. I don't think the first letter looks like the R of the Robert a couple of lines down the page though?

Thanks to you both. Would seem the Earls Colne can't be the right woman as mine was married and having children after 1610.

Very much appreciate your help!

The Earls colne death doesn't have an age, so doesn't mean it's your Anne anyway. Will keep searching for deaths.

Edit:
It's a birthat I found above.
The burial in Earle's colne was Anne of John smith the younger 14/2/1611. I couldn't see a 1610 burial? The writing is difficult to read though.

True, nanny, but I was making the assumption is was the Ann baptized there in 1592. Doesn't matter, though, as mine was alive after 1610.

Thanks very much for your continued help!

What a pain. There's a gap in the parish registers from 1588 to 1609! Mustn't have survived.

Oh! For Earls Colne or Sible Hedingham, nanny? How thoughtless of them! :-)

Earls colne. It's happened on my family tree quite a bit. Pain in the neck!
