In my opinion the marriage residence is not always the place of birth. Never forget Workhouse and overseers accounts records of birth

The occupation is given as " Ap ", presumably apprentice. There are several such entries on the page. Unfortunately there is no indication of the trade to which he is apprenticed.

Not sure if it's any help, but the person named prior to William is Elizabeth Hood aged 50.  Can't really make out whether it is a separate household or not.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

If this Richard Hood dying at Sculcoates in 1838, (was according to a claimed birthplace of Leven online under 'Brough One Name Study'), then he was possibly a Landowner (but see note).

However, I've applied for his 1838 Death Certificate to see exactly who this Richard Hood is.

It is also claimed on the internet that his widow Elizabeth Hood, died April 1866 at Sculcoates? New GRO Index confirms her age as 75. Is there a burial online and what does it say please?

Regards Mark

EDIT
NOTE:- Other sources for a Richard Hood dying Hull 1838:-
(i) suggest a Mariner

A Richard Hood born Leven is still alive at Stamford Bridge in 1851, aged 78
