Roman Catholic Churches of Wexford Town
« on: Saturday 24 September 16 13:34 BST (UK) »
My Great, great, great, grandfather Michael Furlong was the first sibling of 7, baptised in 1771, of Edward & Mary Ann Blake, (there does not appear to be any record of their marriage). The Ancestry.com records simply state 'Wexford.' Assuming this means Wexford Town, can anybody tell me the names of the Catholic Churches in Wexford town in the 1770s era.

From 1690 to 1858 there was only a single Catholic church in Wexford, the Franciscan Friary church. Through the generosity of the friars, this church acted as a parish church during this period, until in 1858 the present "twin" churches were inaugurated.

Thank you for your information - this I feel tells me all I need to know about the central Wexford Town Catholic Church of the 1770s. Thank you also for the additional links.
