what county/part of Wales
« on: Monday 26 September 16 01:57 BST (UK) »
We have found a death in Wales 1992
It's recorded in the district of "HAY"
County noted as "Breconshire, Herefordshire, Radnorshire"

Could/Would someone please tell me exactly where this area/parish/place is as all those counties seem to cover rather a large area in Wales  ???

Thanks for your time

Edit: I had thought the place was "Hay-on-Wye" but found that was in Powys and not one of the counties mentioned above

Hi Your Highness  ;)

From what I can see, Hay was "mainly" in Breconshire if that helps?

Do you have an address which may be easier to locate or are you just doing a bit of researching pre investing your "Royalties"?

Annie

Hi Annie  :D

Thanks for the Breconshire pointer. Unfortunately I don't have an exact address. I was hoping to find something that might give me a hint about location without the cost of the cert.
I thought cemetery records might have helped but didn't know which area - hence my question.

Unfortunately the Royalties haven't been much use either - but I'll keep looking. ;D

Appreciate your help

Di

Thanks for the wiki link Nanny Jan but I must be missing something as I can't seem to find any reference to the district of Hay in that article.

I'm probably rather thick and am missing the obvious  :-[

 - Yep ... it was me being rather THICK  ;D

(didn't think it should be THAT hard!!)

Found a list of places in the Hay registration district. Seems that it makes a BIG difference if you're looking for info pre 1974 (3 different counties) or post 1974 (1 county) - and then you still have a few options.

Phew - that was challenging  ;D

Thanks folks - appreciate all suggestions and hopefully I wont be back with tooooo many dumb ones  ::)

Hi, L.D.,
You could do a lot worse than be guided by:
http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/BRE
You'll get a lot of info on Hay, and if you need to move, the Genuki website is very accommodating.
