David Howells born c.1824
« on: Thursday 29 September 16 10:00 BST (UK) »
Hi All,

Just a quick request if anyone is able to find a baptism for a David Howells/Howell son of Daniel in Kidwelly, Carmarthenshire, or Cwmavon, Glamorgan.

He lists Kidwelly as his place of birth consistently, and lists his father as Daniel, a collier on his marriage certificate. I have found him in the 1851, 1861, 1871 and 1881 censuses living first in Michaelston-super-Avon, and then in Swansea. In the 1881 census he lists Cwmavon as his place of birth.

I can find a likely candidate for Daniel in the 1851 and 1841 census, but it would be better to find a baptism if possible.

Many thanks for any help.

Hi again, I do not know where you have Daniel in 1851 but Daniel 49 occ Collier b Pembrey with:-

Cathrin 57
Richard 20 Married
Hannah 18
Thomas 16
Lewis 13
Cathrin 2 b Michaelstone
All other than Daniel born Kidwelly
Residing at Michaelstone Super Avon
Census ref HO107/2462/397/53
David b 1824 Kidwelly with wife Catherine and child Jane on HO107/2462/398/54

In 1841 Cathering HOWEL and rest of family are at Parkyllong, Kidwelly
Census ref HO107/1385/ 4/50 / 6

Ages of children in 1841 a bit off from 1851 census, but this is the family of David b 1824 Kidwelly I believe.

if that's the right family, FreeReg has a transcription of the marriage 31 March 1823 in Kidwelly of Daniel Howell & Catherine Thomas. No sign of any baptisms for the family, so may be non-conformist.
