Llangollen Parish
« on: Thursday 29 September 16 20:58 BST (UK) »
I have a marriage record for the Parish Church, Llangollen for the 22nd of July 1840 between Jonah Roberts and Jane Edwards. The place of Residence is given as Maes yr Ychen for Jonah and Bron Heulog for Jane. Are these houses or areas? I've got the family on the 1841 census in Pentre Uchaf.Any help in this area would be much appreciated.

My Jones ancestors lived at Maes yr Ychen  maybe they were neighbours - it's in Llantysilio parish, next to Llangollen parish. I'll see what I have of them/it.  It was a farm.

You might like this map also, from 1884

Follow the canal and river eastwards from Llangollen, you will see bron heulog, pentre uchaf is at the top of the map, a bit left of centre.

A slight correction to my earlier posting -  which was from memory - it was not just a couple of farms but also classed as a Township  on the census. This took in quite a few other households.
