Did you know that Dublin is actually in Co. Wexford?
« on: Thursday 29 September 16 23:49 BST (UK) »
The National Archives say so!
http://census.nationalarchives.ie/search/vob/results.jsp?surname=&firstname=&year_from=&year_to=&dd_dd=&dd_mm=&dd_yyyy=&book=Quarto+book&county=wexford&barony=&parish=&townland=&last_name_other_or_lessor=&first_name_other_or_lessor=&search=Search&sort=&pageSize=&pager.offset=0

It has always appeared to me that the NAI and NLI can only have used foreigners completely unfamiliar with Irish family and place names in making their indices. For example, despite the  availability of accurate gazetteers, the name of streets, townlands and even entire parishes are often completely mangled. But to place Dublin in Co. Wexford? This is hopeless.

Hi,
Google.........
leinster ireland counties map...    green map on the right shows the counties, then the left map shows the Baronies. The Baronies run into one and other.
There are 4 Provinces now, there used to be 5.
If you know the Tithe records are a mess, do you correct them?
I do, when I find errors. It actually asked, if you see errors please correct them.
And it was Canada who did most of the Ireland sites, I asked at the library in Dublin a few years ago.

Canada farmed it out to India.

See the beginning of 'Conclusion'.

This came up in an earlier thread

The error correct only allows you to correct names not place names or counties.

Same as London which was formerly part of Middlesex, Surrey, Kent?, Essex? and possibly some other counties.

Sorry, no, that is not what is happening here. Dublin was never part of Co. Wexford. What is happening here is incompetence, utter incompetence. The Irish government - Irish taxpayers - paid for a service, and got nothing but cr*p from people who were not able to perform the job they were paid to do.
