Liverpool area Will - A few words unclear
« on: Friday 30 September 16 21:10 BST (UK) »
Good evening,
Is there anyone on the board who might be able to read the missing words from a Mid 18th century will.
I`ve managed to translate the following so far.

"Will of Thurston late
of Toxteth Park ????: and ???? the :
was granted to William Lassell
and Richard Durning the Executors
First sworn the 28 July"

Suggestions gratefully received.

Binchly

Hi binchly

I think the word after Toxteth park is " de-ceased' - split over two lines.

Still working on the other word. could it be 'Older'? Did this man have a son the same name?
Perhaps there are some clues at the start of the will proper.

By the way, the name here is spelt ThurstAn, and not ThurstOn.

I'm not sure about deceased. Looks like it ends ...ated with a contraction mark above?

I think the next bit is ... and Ad(ministrati)on &c. was granted ...

... first sworn &c. 28 July

(&c. = etc.)

Goldie61 and Bookbox,

many thanks for helping to provide the solution, which many could not.
I now have a complete will transcription for posterity.

Regards,
