Baptism of Edward Rosier on 21 Feb 1766 in Fletching, Sussex
« on: Sunday 02 October 16 22:27 BST (UK) »
I was wondering if anyone has access to the parish registers of Fletching, Sussex, and can tell me if there is any additional information like father's occupation in the above entry.

I am trying to work out whether this may be the baptism of my 6th great grandfather Edward Roser who married Mary Webb on 28 Apr 1801 at St Leonards, Shoreditch, London and appears as a carpenter in the baptisms of his children and in the 1841 census at St Mary Newington, Surrey, aged 75 and born outside the county.

May not be of any help, but there is a marriage of an Edward Roser on the 24 Oct 1809 at Barcombe, Sussex to Mary Banks. Fletching is only about 7 miles from Barcombe.

There is also a death of an Edward Roser registered Lewes 1861.

The Sussex Baptism Index doesn't give the occupation on Edward's or any of his siblings baptisms. Occupation is usually transcribed if it is there in the record.

There is a burial for Edward Rosier in Fletching 6 Oct 1770. As the age is not given I thought this was probably the father but Edward & Sarah baptised a further child , Thomas , 23 May 1772. In addition there are burials for Edward & Sarah Rosier in nearby Newick which could fit the parents - making the 1770 burial more likely to be Edward b 1766.

Nothing conclusive I'm afraid.
