Thanks Carole
I have that info but I just can't find any further records on him post arrival.Have managed to follow his brother Nicholas through to his death in the civil war but Dutton seems to have disappeared.

Did he have sisters Dorah and Margaret and a brother Andrew. Father a Stewert from Clonmel.
These 3 and a Dutton are listed but no Nicholas.

Numbers 133, 152, 161, 162.
Maybe a different family, Dutton is listed as 'Withdrawn', but if not you would wonder if Margaret emigrated to America perhaps Dutton met up with her there.

Thanks Sinnan
I have tracked the lives of Margaret & Dora to Australia & Nicholas's life in America but have had no luck with Andrew who was taken by friends & all I have on dutton is him absconding from a workhouse at 14 & moving to America with Nicholas at age 15.
I will def check the census records Carole as I know many of Nicholas's records show his surname spelt differently. Many thanks.

Since you are looking for information on Dutton Lindsay after his arrival in U.S. this thread would be better moved to U.S. board- just click on 'report to moderator' to ask for this to be done.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

This Navy pension record suggests he may have used the name William Donovan in the U.S.:

If this is him, he died in 1910.  Another record shows he was a quartermaster in the Navy, stationed at various places on the southeast coast.

Also in the US civil war pensions index, the alias indexed as William Dowan. I can't read it all clearly and wondered if that was mention of a wife on the card bottom left hand corner ???
