Robert Chalmers & Janet Bartholomew

Thanks Forfarian, but the marriage is looking a bit  of a long shot for my family now.

However, long shots might pay off,  with regards to Monical's finding of a John Bartholomew and Christian Herriott in Uphall. For the same time frame I have found a John Chalmers married to a Janet Wilson who had a son born 1761 called Robert but in Muiravonside. I have other family lines that start in Muiravonside and they are all heading in the same directions at the same time ending finally in Dunfermline.

Lots more research required, but it gives me hope, all of my branches or twigs seem to disappear around 1750 on every family name and line.

my wife is a direct descendant of John Bartholomew and Christian Harriot
I have not done a lot of research on their children other than son Thomas who married Janet Wilson

Hello Kirkbain,

I am trying to find a death for my John, and hoping its after 1855 (a long shot) which would then hopefully give his parents, will keep you updated. It would explain where the Christian name comes from.

John and Christan are looking very strong candidates for my Janet.

Thank you Kirkbairn - I will keep him on file - he is about 15 years too young to be mine, but you never know, I lie about my age all the time 
I will see if i can find him on 1861 census, tracing this family is a nightmare.
