Samuel Aston death c1816
« on: Tuesday 04 October 16 17:10 BST (UK) »
Hi

I am trying to find  death record for a Samuel Aston, Exciseman. He may well have been born in 1742 but certainly died around 1815 - 1817, (based on an entry in Houses of Parliament papers)

There is a burial record at St Peters, Wolverhampton in 1816, but having looked at the Wolverhampton family history site this puts that Samuel Aston as 28 years old. My Samuel Aston certainly worked in Lancashire and spent many years in Shropshire and may have had connections in Wales. The Samuel Aston born in 1742 was born in Staffordshire.

I will also place this post on the area forums mentioned above on RC.  Basically the search is really doing my head in!!!  :)

Thanks for reading this post

Eric

It is not always such a good idea to put the same post on different boards, as then two or more people could  be spending their time going through the same search processes , thus duplicating effort.

However- if you are not sure the 1742  birth is your guy, then how will you know the "right" burial if you find one/some?  Especialy as not all will be online., so the right one may not be findeable without knowing what area to look at parish records for.

What else do you know about "your" Samuel?

Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex

Looking at the available Staffordshire baptisms on-line, there is no mention of a baptism for Samuel Aston 1742 +/- 2 years.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Hi

As regards the potential year of birth of Samuel another kind member of Roots.com emailed me with the following

"He married Mary Rossall (widow) by licence and he was 26 years old in 1768, giving him a birth year of about 1742.
His children including John and Priscilla were Mary, Sarah Rossall, William and Margaret

A tree on Anc* has a Samuel Aston born 1742 Kingswinford Stafford, parents: William and Margaret plus siblings Priscilla, David, Esther, Thomas, Mary, Elijah and Sarah"

Regards

Eric
