Nolan - South Street, Huddersfield
« on: Thursday 06 October 16 10:00 BST (UK) »
Good Morning,
I am trying to find out information on an Andrew Nolan - he would have been my great uncle.

Born: Feb 15 1890 - Knightsmountain, Knocknagoshel, Co.Kerry, Ireland
Died - Between Jul 1941 and Sep 1941- Huddersfield

I have the following notes on him:
Andrew was killed in an air raid in England during WWII.  Andrew never married

I have the following address but cannot remember where it originated from so unable to trace back what it was in reference to - I believe it may of been his residence before or until 1939.

98 South Street, Huddersfield, Yorkshire

However am unable to find any reference to number 98 on that road.

Thank you for any help that you can give.

Regards,
Mike.

Hi

Welcome to rootschat

I cannot see him mentioned on the CWGC website.  His death certificate may give more information.

The 1939 register indicates that there was a 98 South Street, Huddersfield but I am afraid that I am not able to give details of the occupants due to FindMyPast's terms & conditions.

I cannot see him on the free index for the 1939 register

Rosie

I suggest you tweak the birthdate to 1893 and have a look for him on the 1939 Register. The free index suggests he may then be traceable in Huddersfield, which would enable you to check his address at that date.

That will teach me not to put +/- 2 years against the age  ;D    ::)

I live in Huddersfield and so far as I know nobody actually died in any air raids in Huddersfield during WW2 so perhaps he was living somewhere else at the time.

Thank you for that Stu
Its all the information I had to go on - I think now the only way to find out for sure is to apply for his death cert.  Its recorded as him dying in Huddersfield so probably not air raid related.  I cannot see anything on the CWGC site either.

Also confirmed its Sept 1941 that he died.  And was living in 28 South Street and not 98 as originally thought.  I have a copy now of the 1939 register also so can see who he was living with and think they may have been possibly related.

I am going to be applying for his death cert - will this tell me where he would be buried?  I have tried looking on find a grave etc but cannot see anything for him and not sure where else to look.

Thanks
