Nicholas Harr(e)y and Ann Davey
« on: Friday 07 October 16 07:36 BST (UK) »
This couple were married 1796.
The marriage record states that Nicholas was of St Stephen In Brannel and Ann of the parish of Cardyenham.
My Harry ancestors are found at St Stephen in Brannel which leads me to think that Nicholas may connect to my family.
I would greatly appreciate help in finding his baptism and parents.

With thanks.
Wyatt and Wood of Glossop, Derbyshire. Longstaff of Bishop Auckland,Durham. Harry of St Austell and St Kew,Cornwall. Charters of County Antrim.Knight of Warwickshire.Hendy of Ballyedmonduff.

a little look at the Nicholas who married in St Neot

baptisms to Nicholas & Ann
Maryann bp 1 Jan 1798 St Stephen in Brannel
Elizabeth bp 16 Aug 1803 St Neot
Nicholas bp 6 July 1806 St Neot
Richard Davy bp 26 June 1812 St Endellion
Ann bp 4 Oct 1815 Lanivet, father noted as tinner, abode Hooper's Bridge

There's a possible marriage in St Neot for son Nicholas to Mary Oliver 2 Sep 1830, one of the witnesses being Richard Harry. There's a Nicholas Charles baptised to the couple in St Neot 26 Dec 1830, and then another 5 children baptised in Tywardreath. The 1841 census has this family at Kilvarrick in Tywardreath. Before the 1841 census, there's a burial in Tywardreath of Nicholas Harry aged 67 on 11 Jan 1841, abode noted as Kilvarrick. A long-winded way of getting to a birth around 1773.

KGarrad, where did you find that baptism in 1769? OPC database has that baptism in 1746 and a bastardy bond with details of father.

Thank you KGarrard and Osprey'
I am trying to confirm the parents of the son Nicholas Harry ( bpt 6 Jul 1806) who married 2 Sep 1830 St Neot , Mary Oliver.
You have identified the correct family who lived at Kilvarrick.
I was anticipating Nicholas snr bC1773/4.
I have noticed a tree suggesting he was born Mullion but at his marriage he was " of St Stephen in Brannel".
I have other Harry family at St Stephen in Brannel, so trying to validate.

If he was "of St Stephen in Brannel", that's simply where he was living when the banns were called?
It's not necessarily where he was born.

according to the Banns, he was a sojourner in St Neots.

Cornwall Record Office has a copy of a lease from 1809 where the parties are Thomas Carlyon of Tregrehan esq., Nicholas Harry, tinner of St Neots, and the daughter & son of Nicholas, Mary Ann & William. The lease was for a dwelling house now and for some time past used as a public house of the sign of the 'Barley Mow', with orchard and garden, in churchtown. So at least one baptism to the family in a parish that hasn't been transcribed.

There is a Nicholas Harry baptised in Mullion, 7 November 1752 to John & Thomasine. There's a possible marriage for him in Mawgan in Meneage 20 Oct 1776, and burial there 24 May 1822 aged 69.
