Look up request: William Reece JONES

Hello everybody, I am wondering if anybody could help me find out the parentage of my third great grandfather.

His name was William Reece Jones and he was born January 1839 in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire.

He married Emma Bollen (born 1847 in Piddletrenthide, Dorset) on 01 Oct 1867 at Saint Marys, Portsea, Hampshire.

They had six children:

Francis William Jones
Born 1868

George Charles Jones
Born 1870

Charles Arthur Jones
Born 1873

Jessie Kate Jones
Born 1876

Elizabeth Annie Jones
Born 1879

William Reece Jones
Born 1881

Thomas Jones
Born 1886

Gwendoline Mabel Jones Born 1890

All children were born in Portsmouth, except Thomas who was born in Liverpool.

William Reece Jones died in 1899 in Portsmouth, aged 60, and his widow Emma died in 1926 in Southsea, Hampshire, aged 79. 

I've looked and looked for who his parents could be but haven't gotten anywhere? :

Hi again, even though the above baptism appears to be the one you are looking for,  you have the marriage to an Emma Bollen with place/date of marriage, have you the marriage certificate to ensure that it is indeed the name of his father and his occupation?

PS Why were none of his children named after his Father/Mother?

I haven't. And to be honest I don't know why none of the offspring took the name of their parents. Richard and Mary did christen their middle child Elizabeth Mary Jones in 1844; presumably Mary's middle name was a nod to her mother. I don't know about the parentage of either Richard Jenkins Jones or his wife Mary White. I'm working on it. Hopefully it will provide clues for us

  Look I know birth/marriage/death certificates are costly ( Especially if you get the wrong one) but doing it on the "cheap" for example census etc, is inadvisable, I do believe the baptism is him, but genealogy like any other hobby costs money!

PS using phrases like " A nod to her mother " tells me your English is better. than most European's I know!

it is difficult if I am a student and I am already paying for several subscriptions to various genealogy websites. I was going to buy this certificate as a last resortI

  Hi again, I have been in a not too dissimilar situation as yourself, knock the Grolsh on the head, and save up £9 25p for a certificate, I did this with Carlsberg, could afford two certs a month!!
