Mauritius - Ramjeedass Family

Hello, I have a friend who's father now deceased born  came from Mauritius before the second world war.  He did National Service and married here.   My friend is trying to see if he has any relatives in Mauritius today.    The surname given is Ramjeedass, but I can't find any reference to that name at all.

Hi,
The only records I found were 2 marriages in England and a telephone number for this name.
You would have to contact or if you are in the UK go to the National Archives at Kew.
You can get the records but you have to have proof you are related to the person.

Thanks Maggsie, yes, he is the next of kin,  What I am looking for is any relatives in Mauritius not in this country.   I read the other post about Mauritius but can find no trace of this family.  He said he was sure he had cousins still living out there.

Oh, I have just found someone on Facebook with same surname!!   It's a pity my friend does not have a computer, have sent a message!

I did search Mauritius on familysearch.org but the name was not listed..

Thanks, neither could I, am still waiting to see if the chap on Facebook will reply, only one on there, I think the name is a derivation of Ramjidass as far as surnames that come up.  Thanks again. Steven
