Is anyone researching Greenfield? In particular Zephaniah.also Jesse.
My interest is from Gt x 3 Edward Redman whose 2nd wife was Jane Greenfield.

Zephaniah was witness to Edward's son John's marriage 1831. John was son of first wife. Jesse took over land Edward was renting.Edward emigrated 1820 U.S..

I have seen a connection  The J Redman is James grandson of John,  Edward's son and Jane's stepson, who I couldn't find on 1851. I didn't think of putting J kept trying James.  He married an Ann Jupp, maybe something to do with Jupps land.

This is fantastic Zephaniah is on 1841 census too. Must be connected to Jane. Like my Redman there are many Greenfield s in Billingshurst and surrounding area.

Have had no luck with Jesse.

Probably unconnected with your Sussex Greenfield family, but today I photographed a grave stone and put it on the Find a Grave website, of a Mrs Mary Greenfield, wife of Thomas Greenfield, born 1773, died age 22 on March 20th 1795, buried in the St Nicholas Churchyard, Brighton.

I don't know how common or rare the surname Greenfield was in Sussex in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries?

Greenfield was very common in Billingshurst and they don't seem to have moved far. Your find could possibly be one that made the break.

I have Jesse Greenfield Lamper in my tree. He was born 1867 Climping. His mother was Mary Anne Greenfield bc 1844 Findon. Mary married John Lamper in 1864 Findon. I have no idea where these places are but that is all the information I have involving Greenfields.

Thank you. Climping is 2 miles from me  Sussex coast  and Findon not far from Worthing. Both some way from  Blingshurst and I don't think this is my man but thank you for you reply.
