James and Agnes Vernon
« on: Wednesday 12 October 16 09:57 BST (UK) »
Hi!!

I was wondering if anyone could help find James and Agnes (nee Roy) Vernon, and their daughter Lilian May?

Agnes was born (1870) in Victoria, Australia, she and James (born 1871 either New Zealand or UK) were married in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, in 1897.  Lilian was born in Victoria, Australia in 1899.

I have records of Agnes and Lilian making several voyages between Australia and Durban and Southhampton (1911) up to 1911 and nothing after that.  I have not been able to identify James in any shipping records - so many J Vernons.... we do have a picture of the family which apparently was taken in Durban or Johannesburg around 1904.

Family legend states that Agnes died in Johannesburg but unfortunately we have nothing to confirm that.

Any help or suggestions appreciated.

Cheers,

Chris in Aus

Lilian and her mother are in Sussex England in 1911.  I wonder if they stayed in England after that.

Hi Millipede,

I had considered that but haven't found anything to confirm that either.  I am suspecting that that is the case but without confirmation....

Thanks :)
